How is UNICEF helping children in India?
UNICEF works across India to improve access to essential services such as healthcare, education, clean water, sanitation, child safety and vital support during emergencies.

Why does UNICEF need my help?
UNICEF's work in India is made possible entirely through voluntary contributions. Your monthly support helps us stay on the ground providing life-saving support and work on long term solutions for children’s survival, safety and well-being.

Why is monthly support important?
Children need sustained care and a stable environment to grow and thrive. Your monthly donations allow UNICEF to plan better, respond faster and reach more children over time, especially in hard-to-reach or underserved areas.

Does my donation support children in India?
Yes. The donations raised in India are used to support UNICEF’s programmes within the country only.

Is UNICEF a part of the government?
No. UNICEF is not part of any national government. It is a subsidiary of the United Nations, established by the UN General Assembly. UNICEF works in cooperation with governments and partners to uphold children’s rights, but it operates independently under the UN’s mandate.

Is UNICEF a charitable organization?
No. UNICEF is not a charity. It is the United Nations agency for children, mandated by the UN General Assembly to advocate for the rights and well-being of every child. UNICEF has been working in India since 1949 as part of its global presence.

How is UNICEF different from a charity?
UNICEF is part of the United Nations system, while charities are independent entities incorporated under national laws. Unlike a charity, UNICEF operates under international law and the UN General Assembly mandate. Works with governments, communities, and partners globally to influence systems and policies. UNICEF is funded entirely by voluntary contributions from individuals, governments, foundations, and the private sector. UNICEF receives no core funding from the UN regular budget.

Will I receive updates on how my donation is used?
Yes. As a monthly donor, you will receive regular updates, impact stories and reports that show how your contribution is helping children.

Can I change or cancel my monthly donation later?
Yes. You can modify or cancel your donation at any time. Our donor support team will be happy to assist you.

What is the UNICEF Promise Ring?
The Promise Ring is a small token of appreciation for your monthly commitment to children with UNICEF. After your donation is confirmed, the ring will be sent to you within 60 working days.
